One of my goals for 2022 is being more creative and getting back to crafting.
This week I invited my friend Alex, so I would have company when getting back to creative work. We took over the lounge area with all the utensils we needed and sat down on the big table with a bottle of wine.
I am really into the dried flower trend, I knew I wanted to create something with those.
Some bits I needed, I had to go get but others were sitting at home already, waiting to be useful.
Dried flowers can be difficult to find. I found that when I wasn't looking for them, I saw them in every shop, but when you actually need some they disappear.
Online is always an option, but we arranged our DIY afternoon very short notice, which means there was no time for deliveries.
Alex seemed very happy about the flowers I found in a shop on the high street.
Another thing I wanted to get was thin golden wire to match the golden hoop I ordered online ages ago.
I found the wire at The Range and the purple pliers were hanging on the same shelf, which I obviously couldn't walk past. At The Range I also found some fake Lavender and Eucalyptus, which I hoped, would work well, if I'd blend them with the prettier dried flowers.
I began by gently taking the flower bouquets apart and spreading all of it across the table.
Using the wire, I then fixed every single blossom onto the hoop one by one, until I was happy with the arrangement.
When I couldn't find any more room to wrap around more flowers, I took out my glue gun and added some fallen off blossoms, to fill any gaps.
This is a really fragile procedure, as the blossoms break very easily.
I then cut off some macrame yarn I had left over and wrapped it around the top of the finished hoop.
In the end I had loads of dried flowers left, which made me excited for more DIY's in the future.
This was such a fun project and I can highly recommend inviting a friend over to do something creative like this.
This will be my boyfriend's mum's birthday present and I am already excited to give it to her in a few weeks.
